With both day and night shift roles available, the hours for these claims handler jobs in Newcastle are:

Day shift Claims Handler hours:

40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

9am - 6pm (inclusive of late shift / weekend over time once training is completed)

Night shift Claims Handler hours:

44 hours per week

4 days on and 4 days off (Monday to Sunday)

between 6pm - 6am.

This back-office role has customer service, call centre, and administration aspects to it. Other responsibilities of the Claims Handler job include:

  • Handle telephone enquiries from clients regarding their case, assessing the merits of their case and settling them in line with policy cover and legal liability.
  • Build a positive relationship with each client and help them manage their expectations to deliver the appropriate outcome.
  • Ensure accuracy in all aspects of claims handling including valuing PI claims, negotiating costs, using MOJ Portal, adhering to CPR and legislation.
  • Handle claims queries in relation to policy cover, claim status, policy exclusions and excesses, ensuring more complex cases are referred to a Team Leader.
  • Where appropriate, investigate claims to ensure payments are made only where a liability is established.
  • Arrange and monitor provision of hire vehicles to the client, negotiate to control costs whilst adhering to deadlines and time constraints.
  • Monitor receipt of engineer’s reports and payments regarding the same.
  • Negotiate effectively with Third Party Insurers to ensure a fair settlement is achieved for the client and the company.
