A Costs Paralegal for a leading North East firm requiring 12 months experience working within the legal industry.

The role would be suited to a Paralegal or Fee Earner who is currently looking to make a move into a different area of law. The role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to undertake ACL training and qualify as a Costs Lawyer.

Job Description

You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating Legal Costs Schedules and Bills with the aim of ensuring maximum recovery of

Legal Fees and Disbursements. Your duties will include:

  • Preparing Schedules and Bills of Costs, to include Litigation Schedules such as Costs Budgets, Estimates and Statements of Costs for Trial/ Applications.
  • Negotiation of Legal Costs and Disbursements.
  • Issuing Part 7 and Part 8 Proceedings. 
  • Making Applications.
  • Liaising with Legal Teams.
  • Ensure compliance with Information Security Policies including data confidentiality and the operational security of the Information Systems used.
  • Ensure you uphold the Core Values of Winn Group.
  • Any ad hoc or additional duties as deemed fit and appropriate by the Management Team for this post and the associated level of responsibility attached to it.

Person Specification

The successful candidate must commit to upholding the company’s core values, Integrity, Respect, Loyalty and Reliability and ensure that they are demonstrated throughout their working practice. You should also possess the relevant attributes and experience outlined below:

  • A minimum of 12 months experience within a legal environment.
  • Knowledge of basic law and practice.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
