Joe
Level 3 Business Administration
Winn Group Apprenticeship start date: January 2019
My study and jobs before apprenticeship: I was studying Business Management at Gateshead college where I passed my first year with distinction.
I chose to do an apprenticeship because: It was a great opportunity for me as I was already working at Winn Group part time and really enjoying the work when I got offered a full time role with the chance to get a qualification at the same time. It was great for me!
I chose a Winn Group apprenticeship because: Winn Group is a huge company and offers plenty of career paths within the group, so I knew as soon as I passed my apprenticeship there would be different opportunities for me to take with the same firm.
What I enjoy most about my Winn Group apprenticeship: The people in the company, as I have been fortunate enough to work with some great people who I’d now call good friends.
The support I have received through my apprenticeship: My manager was very supportive of me throughout my apprenticeship by helping me with my work and allowing me time to do it as well.
My first role following the apprenticeship: My first role was assistant administrator and when I officially started working full time, I began doing all of the administration on my own.
My career progression since then: The level of work has increased as I have been trusted more with different tasks.
What I would like to do next with my career: I haven’t quite decided yet, but my managers have started to discuss my options with me, so I can either continue progressing in what I am doing or they are there to give me advice if I want to move to a different department.
My top tip for anyone considering doing an apprenticeship: Always make sure you are looking to get an apprenticeship in a job you are looking to have a career in, as It will give you both the qualifications and experience you need for the future.
