Lucy

Level 3 Business Administration

Winn Group Apprenticeship start date: I started working at Winn Group in April 2019 and then started my apprenticeship in May 2019.

My study and jobs before apprenticeship: I worked in Newcastle Airport as a passenger service assistant, this involved helping passengers on and off the aircraft that needed extra support. It was a very tiring job with a lot of long shifts.

I chose to do an apprenticeship because: Initially I didn’t want to do an apprenticeship as I had been to college previously and I thought I was too old at 19 to start learning again I was just looking for full time work. However, when I looked into the job advert for my now current role my mindset changed as it was a completely different environment to what I was used and very out of my comfort zone. After seeing the position at Winn Solicitors I was more interested in completing an apprenticeship as I wanted to learn alongside working while gaining new skills and knowledge at the same time.

I chose a Winn Group apprenticeship because: I think if I hadn’t got the job working at Winn Solicitors, I wouldn’t have completed an apprenticeship anywhere else. Winn Group has so many different areas within the business and there are a lot of places that you can progress to after the apprenticeship is completed. This is what initially pushed me to applying for the job as it was a completely fresh start and so different from what I was used to doing which I loved.

What I enjoy most about my Winn Group apprenticeship: I enjoy the fact that I can complete my apprenticeship while learning more and more about the business and working alongside people who have a lot of experience that they can pass on to me. Every day I learn something new and my skills are increasing constantly.

The support I have received through my apprenticeship: My managers support me a lot within my apprenticeship as they are always there to help me. They both have a lot of knowledge and experience within the business that they are always willing to share with me if I am ever struggling. I have learned a lot from them both.

Apprenticeship end date: I should be finished my apprenticeship in the next few months. Because of Coronavirus some things have had to be modified and put back which has held me back a little longer than it should have.

What I have to do in order to finish: All that is left for me to do in order for me to finish is the final stages of the apprenticeship to complete a project that I have been working on for a few months and  present it and complete a small interview and test.

What would you like to do in the future: At the start of my apprenticeship I had no idea what I wanted to do after I had completed it and my answer is still the same now! I love my current job and the team I am in, there are so many different opportunities here.

My top tip for anyone considering doing an apprenticeship: I would say if you are thinking about doing an apprenticeship then definitely do it, you can gain so much from an apprenticeship while learning a new job role and meeting new people.
