Joseph Timlin Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

Career development and outstanding results have been the fuel for Joseph Timlin’s time at Winn Group.

Celebrating his 10-year anniversary with the organisation recently, the old adage of ‘every day’s a school day’ certainly rings true.

After qualifying as a solicitor in 2018, Joseph has continued his learning by taking on a Team Leader role, as well as moving towards the latter stages of a three-year ACTAPS (Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists) course that will allow him to work in wider reaches of the business.

Part of our legal team, Joseph is a great example of the possibilities on offer at Winn Group when taking your next career step with us.

The fully qualified Solicitor said: “Winns is great for someone interested in law but also interested in business.

“The roles I have had explore that legal side, but everything Winns does is viewed with a commercial outlook. It’s not all death by law, and the business focus keeps things fresh and with clear objectives and goals in mind.

“That keeps every day a bit more interesting.

“I am now a Team Leader and have learned a lot by turning my hand to management, learning different skills, and working with people, while assuming the responsibility of decision making.

“I enjoy the psychology of managing people and what motivates them, and how they communicate, so I can get the best out of people.

“I am now hoping to finish the 3-year ACTAPS course and potentially work on new areas of law with the business.”

David Dewar, Associate Director - Head of Commercial and Contested Litigation, said: “I cannot believe Joe has been with us for 10 years! He started as a trainee with the Group, qualified as a Solicitor after completing his training contract, and has gone on to become a well-respected Solicitor Team Leader.

“Joe’s journey should inspire all trainees and apprentices, showing just what can be achieved through hard work and commitment.”

Working in a dynamic, evolving organisation, Joseph is encouraged by what the future has to offer.

He added: “In my time at Winns there has been a lot of change and growth. I joined when there were two offices and probably only 250 staff; now the staff is over 700 and still growing.

“The company has weathered changes in the law, pandemics, and sustained growth that can often be too difficult to manage.

“It’s been great to see it all and be part of it, especially when it doesn’t look like there are any signs of it slowing down.”
