Northumbria Graduate Nikita’s Rise to Success

'}}

Since joining Winns in 2012, Nikita Bos’ career has gone from strength to strength. Here, she talks about her progression within the firm, her biggest achievements to date, and her career aspirations:

---------------

I was initially attracted to Winn Solicitors because of the nature of the business as a leading Personal Injury firm in the North East. Due to my degree results, I was awarded a work placement with Winn Solicitors in 2012. Whilst on placement, I found the environment to be very positive and the staff were very friendly and approachable. I instantly knew that I wanted to become a part of the team. I was also aware that Winn Solicitors regularly offered multiple in-house Training Contracts despite the current economic climate. I gained a great deal of practical legal experience during my placement, which ultimately resulted in a full-time position as a Legal Clerk.

I started my employment at Winn Solicitors as a Legal Clerk in September 2012. During my time at Winns I have worked in a number of different departments, such as the LVI Team dealing with complex causation claims and client management. I started my Training Contract in June 2014 and I will qualify in November 2015 – my biggest achievement to date. In October 2014, I transferred to the Vehicle Damage Department where I was able to develop my litigation experience in respect of technical credit hire arguments. In January 2015 I was promoted to the Litigation Team where I am now dealing with appeals, business process and legal challenges.

I really enjoy working on the Litigation Team dealing with complex issues of law, litigation and business. I feel that my knowledge and skills have rapidly progressed since I joined the team in January 2015. I also really enjoy working with the members of the Litigation Team as well as colleagues from other Departments.

Throughout my time at Winn Solicitors, I’ve received exceptional support. The support structure is a great aspect of the firm and I have always felt that I could seek guidance from my colleagues, Supervisors, and the Directors. I regularly attend in-house training sessions and I have also been involved in delivering training to my colleagues.

Graduates are faced with a difficult economic climate which has resulted in many firms reducing the number of Training Contracts. Winn Solicitors provided me with an opportunity to pursue a successful and rewarding career in law without having to relocate from the North East. The firm has always been very good to me in terms of my progression and I have been generously rewarded for my hard work. Once I qualify as a Solicitor in November, I intend to progress my career as a far as possible at Winn Solicitors. I would definitely recommend the firm to other Graduates.”
