Natalie Brown and Chloe McCall have successfully completed their training contracts and will be enrolled on to the Solicitors Roll.

After two years of training and maintaining a full-time position at the company, the pair, both based in our Personal Injury department, will now become fully qualified solicitors.

David Dewar, Associate Director and Head of Commercial and Contested Litigation, said: “Natalie and Chloe both joined as law graduates together and quickly demonstrated a clear desire to develop and progress in their careers.

“I am extremely proud to have been involved in their professional development, and it gives me a great deal of personal and professional fulfilment to work within a company which consistently invests so much in supporting and developing its people.

“Natalie and Chloe now join a long and distinguished line of colleagues who have qualified as solicitors during my time at Winn Solicitors, and I am delighted that they will both continue their careers with us as solicitors.

“I very much look forward to seeing their careers continue to develop and flourish at Winns.”

We caught up with the newly qualified duo to find out more about the training contract journey and how it can impact career prospects:

To what extent was this something you wanted to achieve?

Chloe: This was something I knew I wanted to complete upon finishing university and starting my career at Winns in April 2021. I was delighted, having been given the opportunity to do so just over a year later.

After waiting a further 10 months to begin and then delaying my qualification by almost nine months to welcome my daughter, I was able to continue to build on my knowledge and values, both professionally and personally, and it made me more determined to qualify!

Natalie: Qualifying in the tech team is something I wanted to achieve from the beginning of my training contract as it feels like the natural progression from Part 7. I knew I wanted to expand my knowledge on personal injury and deal with more technical cases, so I’m really pleased I’ve managed to accomplish that.

How have you found navigating the process?

Natalie: I initially found it challenging managing my time between my workload and additional tasks, but eventually I found a system that worked for me! Whilst it’s been challenging, it has been worth it as it’s helped me manage my time more effectively and set time for specific tasks.

Chloe: The training contract has been both challenging and rewarding. I have enjoyed gaining exposure to different departments across the business and undertaking a variety of tasks that I might not otherwise have experienced within Part 7. It’s been a period of significant professional and personal growth and I’m very grateful to everyone I’ve worked alongside – their support, guidance, and encouragement have played a key role in my development.

What have you found most valuable for your career?

Natalie: Moving into the Serious and Technical Injuries team and working alongside the senior solicitors! This move pushed me out of my comfort zone but enabled me to become more confident in myself and the decisions I make. I’ve worked closely with more senior solicitors, barristers etc., who have shared their knowledge with me which has been invaluable for my progression.

Chloe: The training here at Winns is hands on, providing the opportunity to engage with all aspects of the role and gain experience across a wide range of matters. Working directly with clients, defendants, and counsel has been invaluable in developing my legal and interpersonal skills. The knowledge and experience shared by colleagues, both past and present, has played a crucial role in my growth and confidence.

What doors does this open going forward?

Chloe: Qualifying as a solicitor marks the beginning of the next stage of my career. It allows me to build on the strong foundation of practical experience, professional confidence, and relationships I have developed at Winns so far. I am excited to see where this next chapter takes me.

Natalie: Qualifying as a solicitor within the Serious and Technical Injuries team has opened up the opportunities to work on higher value and complex cases. It’s given me the opportunity to assist on complex and catastrophic injury cases with senior members of staff within the team and work alongside them on their cases. I’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge with the guidance of my team.
