Three of Winn Group’s legal team are embarking on their first steps of a career journey that leads to qualified solicitor status.
Starting their training contract recently, Elliott Holyoake-Turner, Olivia Inness, and Elise Swan began a two-year period of learning across a range of departments that will, upon completion, see them secure a place on the Solicitors Roll.
A great example of Winn Group offering tangible paths of progression for its employees, we caught up with the trio at the start of a new chapter in their professional development:

Elise Swan
“I applied for a training contract as this has always been a goal of mine since deciding I wanted to pursue a career as a solicitor.
“I ensured that I was ready for the next step in my career by building on transferable skills and those practised within my job role as a fee earner that I could use as a trainee.
“I expect a lot of challenges and hard work, but I also expect that the next two years will be very rewarding. I will learn from new departments across the company that I don't yet have experience in and develop my legal skills as a trainee.
“Winns makes me feel supported, as there are always lots of new opportunities and career development paths. I received support and encouragement to apply for the training contract from my supervisor, Catherine Walker.
“I'm excited for this next step.”

Elliott Holyoake-Turner
“Getting a training contract has always been a goal for me. I have known for a long time that, ultimately, I want to qualify as a solicitor, and this is the necessary next step to do so.
“I expect a lot of hard work, but I also expect it to be rewarding, as well as a great opportunity to learn and get a glimpse into different areas of the business.
“Winns has been very supportive; Catherine Walker has been extremely supportive in both helping me develop skills that will be required and providing advice.
“I expect that being both a team leader and completing a training contract will be a lot of work, but Catherine and Winns have been very helpful and supportive with this.”

Olivia Inness
“Becoming a solicitor is the next step in my legal career, so when the opportunity arose to apply for a training contract, I was excited to continue my journey internally at Winns.
“I found the SharePoint pages useful when researching the different departments inside Winns. I also spoke with more senior members of staff who were able to provide advice regarding potential questions. Elysia (Smith) was very helpful and took time out of her day to run through relevant case law as well as discussing the format of the interview - I felt encouraged and supported by my team to apply.
“I appreciate that the role will be challenging. However, I enjoy situations that push me out of my comfort zone and encourage me to maximise my potential. I am excited to learn more about the workings of the firm to cement my knowledge and experience.
“I value the firm’s commitment to internal progression, and I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to progress my legal career in a supportive environment.
“I have received a lot of support throughout my time here, including my VD pre-litigation and post litigation teams.”
