Four aspiring solicitors started their training contract journey with Winns as Liam Appleby, Adam Doyle, Helena Lowther, and Caitlin Townsend began the two-year path to being fully qualified recently.

Set to enjoy a selection of different roles across the company over the next 24 months, this training period will provide a range of experiences in legal departments, allowing the trainees to have a more holistic understanding ahead of qualifying.

Winns offers regular training contract places throughout the year on an internal-only basis, encouraging our staff to develop and remain with us through their careers.

Working in an environment that promotes enhancing skills and achieving career aspirations, Winns prides itself on offering a number of training contract opportunities during the year.

When speaking to the four new entrants, we discussed the next step and the benefits of conducting that journey with Winns as part of the company’s development programmes:

What encouraged you to apply for a training contract?

ADAM: After completing my LPC and getting experience as a fee earner, the training contract was the straightforward next step to progress my career and continue to develop my skills.

It was something I’ve wanted for a long time and it feels good to know I have a forward path lined up.

LIAM: From studying law at A-Level and university, I knew I wanted to be a solicitor. After passing my A-Levels and completing my undergraduate and postgraduate degree, I knew that applying for a training contract at Winns would be a fantastic opportunity for progression and to achieve my aim and aspiration of becoming a solicitor.

HELENA: I decided to apply for a training contract as it has always been my intention to qualify as a solicitor following my studies at university. I have worked hard during my time at Winns and naturally felt like it was the right time to apply - luckily it was!

CAITLIN: A training contract has always been my goal so that I am able to qualify as a Solicitor. I have gained so much experience in the last two years at Winns and I knew this was where I wanted to complete my training contract.

Do you feel supported here at Winns?

HELENA: I am hopeful I will feel supported throughout my training contract, not only by management but also by fellow trainees. I am certain I will feel supported by my team leader Andrew (Toward) who was equally thrilled when he heard the news that I’d received the training contract.

LIAM: Since I started at Winns almost four years ago, I have been grateful for the support received. I have been fortunate enough to learn from a number of different team leaders throughout my time at Winn Solicitors to enhance and develop my skills. I would also like to thank all of my colleagues as well. I must thank Amy (Graham) and David (Dewar) who have provided me with continuous support throughout my time at Winn Solicitors. I must also thank Claire (Hayton), who has been a massive support and provided me with a lot of confidence in my own capabilities and for her continued encouragement during the application process.

What do you hope to achieve in your future career?

ADAM: Since completing my LPC, the goal has always been getting the training contract and qualifying as a solicitor. After that, I’m sure I’ll think up a new step I want to take or goal to aim for, but for now, I’m just focused on getting through this successfully and continuing to grow my skills.

HELENA: I hope to successfully complete the training contract and qualify!

LIAM: In my future law career, I hope to achieve a few key goals. Firstly, I want to become a knowledgeable and skilled advocate, capable of representing clients effectively and ethically. I aim to build a strong reputation within my chosen area of law. Ultimately, I hope to make a positive impact on my clients while continuously growing and learning within the profession.

CAITLIN: I hope I can continue to learn and gain further experience within litigation and qualify within the VD Post Litigation Department.
