Three Winn Group employees have started out on training contract journeys as part of their career progression with the company.

Jenny Banfi, Gurveer Jagpal, and Sabha Mohammed made it through a hugely competitive interview process to succeed in a talented collection of applicants.

Starting their training period, which spans two years and a range of seats across different legal departments, on July 1st, the trio are looking forward to the next chapter.

Rebecca Colby, Associate Director and Head of Vehicle Damage – Post Litigation, said of two of her team: “We are delighted that Jenny is starting her training contract with Winn Solicitors.

“Jenny initially started her journey as a fee earner in the Vehicle Damage team, eventually dealing with high value claims, and then progressed to a team leader position.

“She has worked extremely hard to reach this point and performed very well during the interview process. We look forward to seeing what Jenny can achieve in the next two years and supporting her as she works towards qualifying as a solicitor!

“Well done to Gurveer on starting his training contract. Gurveer joined us in September 2022 as a fee earner and has progressed into a senior role.

“He has consistently performed well during his time in the department and the training contract offering is a testament to his progress and the work he has put into developing his ability and skill set.

“I look forward to seeing him develop on the training contract and his eventual qualification as a solicitor.”

Catherine Walker, Portal Manager – Personal Injury, said of Sabha: “She has worked really hard to achieve a training contract.

“Fully deserving of a training contract, I look forward to watching her develop and grow over the next two years.”

We caught up with some of the new trainees ahead of their next career step at Winns:

How did you react to the news that you’d been awarded a training contract?

Sabha: I was really happy and looking forward to starting as soon as possible - I’ve been wanting this for a long time now.

Gurveer: I felt elated and grateful. It’s a great feeling to have the support of management in the department who helped me and to be rewarded for the hard work accomplished thus far.

What do you expect from the training contract period?

Gurveer: A variety of new challenges and learning experiences within the services that the company has to offer.

Sabha: I expect to learn new skills like advocating at hearings, keeping a training diary and writing opinions on infant files.

How do you feel it will benefit you in terms of skills and your career?

Sabha: I have a lot of infant files so I feel like this will enable me to progress the full file by being able to do the values and attend the hearings. In terms of my career, it would allow me to fulfil my goal of becoming a solicitor and taking the next step.

Gurveer: I hope to become more well-rounded with the new skills and experiences obtained throughout the training contract.
