Congratulations to Victoria Maugham who has recently qualified as a Costs Lawyer, after completing her Association of Costs Lawyers (ACL) qualification.
Victoria joined Winns in April 2012 as an Admin Assistant in the Trials Team. She quickly progressed to become a Costs Clerk, and then a Costs Negotiator in the Costs Department, before joining the Litigation Team in December 2014.
Over the past three years, Victoria has been working hard in order to complete her ACL qualification, funded by Winns.
Victoria said;
“The ACL took 3 years to complete. It helped me gain a thorough knowledge and understanding of foundation civil law and business management which really helped me in my career, specifically as I don’t have any other formal qualifications in law!”
Prior to joining the firm, Victoria studied towards AS Levels in Maths, Biology and Chemistry, and worked in a restaurant. Joining Winns provided her with the stepping stones towards gaining a professional qualification.
Victoria added;
“It feels great to finally have a qualification in a sector that I have been working in for over 5 years now after 3 years of hard work! I think there are great progression and career opportunities at Winns if you are committed to putting the hard work in! I had the opportunity to qualify as a Costs Lawyer, having started here as an admin assistant with no experience and no qualifications and without a law degree, which really shows the investment Winns are willing to make for their staff.”
HR Director, Michael Warmington said;
“It’s great to see Victoria qualify as a Costs Lawyer. She has been a great asset to the costs and litigation teams, and we are delighted to see her receive a formal qualification for all of her hard work. We look forward to seeing her continue to progress as she takes on new challenges within the firm. Congratulations Victoria!”
