Winn Solicitors has been shortlisted for four accolades at the prestigious Northern Law Awards - a real achievement for the firm’s employees.

Director and Head of Litigation, Ghazala Bashey is delighted to have been nominated for the title of Lawyer of the Year. Two teams are also in line for success: the 46-strong Trials Team aims to beat off stiff competition to be named Team of the Year, and the Costs Department is hoping for victory in the Law Practice Management Award category. Winn Solicitors is also aiming to be the first recipient of the Law Firm of the Year title at the awards, which celebrate the great wealth of legal talent and success in the region.

Ghazala Bashey, from Newcastle, has been a key part of the firm since day one, and her hard work has had an impressive impact on its growth. She said: “It is a real honour to have your efforts recognised; the North East region has a huge amount of talented individuals working within the legal sector and over recent years we have seen the industry go from strength to strength.”

The Trials Team are well-placed to take the title of Team of the Year. The Team, managed by Ghazala, plays an important role in the company’s future growth, having settled a large number of complex disputed cases for the firm.

Ghazala added: “To have your work acknowledged as being amongst the best in your field is not only an achievement for the firm but for the individuals that play a significant role on a daily basis in driving forward legal expertise in our region – and truly putting the North East on the national map – it is a major confidence boost and celebration of their efforts.”

The Costs Department, made up of 21 employees, each with substantial and varied knowledge, are a strong contender for the Law Practice Management Award. The department places an emphasis on communication, with a belief that knowledge distribution empowers colleagues. The team has been instrumental in the company’s growth through successful fee recovery.
