We are proud of the ongoing success of our Debt Recovery Team and are excited to expand our established by welcoming a Solicitor to join the team as a Team Leader.

As a Team Leader in the Debt Recovery Team, you will oversee the daily management of a dedicated team of Paralegals, driving performance and fostering professional development.

Your role will focus on ensuring client retention and effective debt recovery for the business, as well as conducting, authorising, and overseeing litigation activities within the Debt team.

Responsibilities

  • As a Team Leader in our Debt Recovery team, you will supervise a team of Debt Recovery Paralegals.
  • Conduct and authorise litigation within the Debt Recovery team.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head and Deputy Head of Department to ensure that the team’s performance targets are met.
  • Support in the training and development of your team.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with your team.
  • Support with Client retention.
  • Maximise debt recovery for the Business.
  • Commencement of the Debt Pre-Action Protocol.
  • Negotiating with Debtors.
  • Carry out residency and other searches, assessing Debtors ability to pay.
  • Issuing of Part 7 proceedings and making applications.
  • Drafting Court Documents, to include applications for Attachment of Earnings Orders, and Charging Orders. Liaising with High Court Enforcement Agents.
  • Drafting Witness Statements.
  • Preparing cases for Trial.

Working Hours

This role is full-time, based on 35 hours per week. The working pattern for this role is Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.


We are also fully office-based in Byker, Newcastle.

About You

To succeed in this role, we're looking for someone who brings a blend of must-have skills and experiences, along with those extra special qualities that can make a difference to our team and business.

Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 12 months experience in leading a team.
  • Experience in handling clients, and the claims process.
  • At least 12 months of litigation experience in debt recovery.
  • Experience in claims arising as a result of breach of contract.
  • Knowledge of the pre-action protocols and civil procedure rules.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate, coach and support others.
  • Experience in working towards deadlines and performance objectives.
  • Ability to assist with communicating vision, strategy, and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to assist with implementing change with a flexible approach.
  • Ability to solve problems by way of critical analysis and effective decision-making.
  • IT literate.
  • Ability to develop and motivate self and others.
  • Commitment to own personal development.
