Winn Solicitors beat off stiff competition to win the prestigious ‘corporate wave’ at the first Newcastle Triathlon.
Despite a difficult route including cycling along the Northumberland Coastline, swimming in the Queen Elizabeth Country Park lake and finally running two laps around the lake and exterior of Woodhorn Museum, the Winn team were declared overall winners and also helped to raise £1000 for local charity The Sunshine Fund.
Mick Davis from the Winn team said;
"Our team put in a lot of effort and training for this. We worked hard on the day and were absolutely thrilled to win.
"Everyone at Winn, not just the team, has pulled together to support the triathlon and raise money for The Sunshine Fund because we know what a great job it does in the region to support disabled children and their families. We're just pleased we can help."
Several organisations took part in the triathlon's corporate wave including HMS Calliope, Costain, IHC Engineering Business and Quorum Business Park.
Carroll Pattison, director at The Sunshine Fund said;
“The Newcastle Triathlon was a brilliant event and one which we were very pleased to be involved with.
"We are extremely grateful to all of the businesses for their hard work. The money they have raised will be put to excellent use and help make life easier for many local families.”
The event was well supported on the day with family, friends and sporting enthusiasts turning out to cheer on the teams. Event organisers VO2were thrilled by the turn out and the support all the sponsors have given."
