Remembering your interview day by ‘Thunder Thursday’ is a rare occurrence but not for Sonia Carraro, who is celebrating reaching 10 years at Winns.

The Payroll Officer turned up at the office for her interview in somewhat apocalyptic circumstances, something she remembers to this day.

She said: “Thunder Thursday in 2012 will be better remembered by me as the day I had my interview. 

“Having braved the storms to get to and from Byker, I was successful in securing my job as the Winn Group Payroll Officer and 11 days later I joined the company. Moving to a new company after 12 years with my last one was a daunting prospect.

“However, thanks to the lovely Accounts team, I was immediately welcomed and made to feel part of the team. While there have been a lot of people come and go during my 10 years, there are a few who were here on my first day and are still here now.”

Part of the Payroll department, Sonia has certainly played, and continues to play, an important part in the functioning of Winn Group.

She continued: “Winns has continued to support me throughout the last 10 years, providing me the opportunity of additional training and professional qualifications, to help keep me up to date with the ever-changing world of Payroll.

“There are far too many people for me to individually name who in the last 10 years have helped me both professionally and personally, but I thank all of you.”
