Anniversary: Cheryl Charlton Passes 20-Year Marker

Congratulations are in order for Cheryl Charlton, after she passed the 20-year anniversary marker here at Winn Group.

Starting out with an interview in 2004, Cheryl began her Group career as a Claims Handler, then moved on to a trainer role, prior to stints as a Team Leader, Deputy Manager, and Manager (in On Hire), before becoming On Hire Invoice Processing Team Manager, and, most recently, Group Accounts Payable Manager.

Two decades of working at Winns is a hugely notable achievement, with the occasion marked by the presentation of a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of champagne, and vouchers to spend.

Cheryl said: “At the time, I was working as a Partner’s PA for a firm of solicitors in Jesmond. I had worked as a secretary in commercial, matrimonial, and employment law departments and someone I worked with had started a new role at Winns. 

“She told me how much she liked working at Winns and that Jeff (Winn) was looking to expand the claims team.  I was ready for a change in career and Winns sounded like a good company to work for.

“I enjoy working here because of the friendliness, benefits, and social events. But I suppose most of all is the security and knowing that Jeff (Winn, Executive Chairman) and the other directors are always one step ahead of competitors.

“I feel like 20 years is an achievement and I am proud of myself, but 20 years and no sickness is an even bigger achievement!”
