Two members of the Winn Group team have taken the next step in their Costs career by starting an external course funded by the company.
The company seeks to up-skill staff wherever possible and progress our employees to achieve their potential as part of our ongoing commitment to development and evolution in the workplace.
As an investment in the futures of both Karolina Kot and Sarah Picken, Winn Group is funding their participation in the Association of Costs Lawyers Course (ACL), a training programme that, upon completion and three years of qualifying employment, will allow them both to qualify as Costs lawyers.
Karolina, who joined the company as a legal graduate, said: “When I started my role at Winns in Costs I quickly learned that this is what I wanted to do and doing the ACL to become a Costs lawyer was the next step in my career progression.
“I have always been quite an ambitious person so it was important for me to find an employer that will promote progression.
“It makes me happy that the company values me so much that they want to invest in me.”
The course, which started at the beginning of January, is primarily distance learning in delivery and will give Sarah the chance to add to her skills and experience.
She said: “It allows me to enhance my costs knowledge but also my knowledge in other areas of law which we deal with as a company.
“Winns is a great firm for investing in its employees - we’re not just here to fill seats and bring in money, we’re here to make the most of our careers, no matter what stage we are at in our journeys.
“I joined as a legal graduate to gain additional legal skills and experience, but now I see myself here for the foreseeable future.
“This is wholly down to the opportunities offered, support from management, and the people within the Costs department.”
Rachel Glendenning, Head of Costs and Debt Recovery, said: “Congratulations Sarah and Karolina on your acceptance onto the ACL course.
“The ACL course is an excellent one for those who are pursuing a professional career in Costs and are wishing to qualify as a Costs lawyer.
“It is great that the business can offer staff like Sarah and Karolina the opportunity to undertake the course by funding the cost of it on their behalf.
“I think this demonstrates the investment the business has in its staff development. I look forward to seeing Sarah and Karolina’s growth over the duration of the course.
“Well done both of you.”
