Northumbria Law School Student Wins Winn Solicitors Prize for Best Performance in Civil Litigation

David McCormick was awarded the Winn Solicitors prize for the best performance in Civil Litigation (M Law Exempting), at the Academic Congregations and Prize Giving Ceremony 2014 at Northumbria Law School.

David, 22, from Liverpool, studied M Law Exempting (Bar Professional Training Course) at Northumbria University and his ambition is to become a successful barrister and then judge.

David comments;

“I was very pleased when I was informed that I had won this prize. Recognition is always great, but recognition from a leading law firm truly made the work and effort worth it. Furthermore, the opportunity for my family to see me be awarded this prize was a truly great experience for both them and me.”

Having recently returned from an internship in India, David will begin a 12 month contract with the Independent Police Complaints Commission in the coming weeks, focusing on the investigation into the Hillsborough stadium disaster. Thereafter, he will begin pupillage in Newcastle in October 2015.

David adds;

“I think that the support Winn Solicitors offers to both the university and its law students is fantastic. Ultimately a student will work hard because they want to achieve the best grade possible. If, in doing so, they can be given recognition from a law firm and in turn be given a prize, this can only be beneficial to them in the future. I am truly grateful for this award and the support from Winn Solicitors.”
