We are delighted to announce that Winns has made the shortlist for the Northern Law Awards. Both the Litigation Team and the Trials Team have made the cut for Team of the Year – Personal Injury/ Clinical Negligence, while the firm as a whole has been shortlisted for Large Law Firm of the Year. The awards celebrate the great wealth of legal talent and success within the region.
This has been a fantastic year for the firm as a whole – we’ve maintained a strong position in the market despite changes to the industry, and we are on course for further growth in the future.
Success has also been no stranger to both the Litigation Team and the Trials Team. The Litigation Team has been involved in a number of high-profile appeals and test litigation cases, and recently celebrated a resounding success in the Court of Appeal in the case of Broadhurst v Tan.
The case involved successfully establishing that a claimant who beats their own Part 36 offer at Trial is entitled to indemnity costs as opposed to fixed costs. This hugely successful outcome for claimant lawyers demonstrates the national impact of our firm.
The Trials Team has also had a fantastic year, achieving outstanding results for clients, including £405,000 compensation for a client who suffered a lacerated cornea and £192,374 for a client whose right foot was crushed in an accident.
The team has a strong and clear organisational structure in place, incorporating specialist sub-teams to deal with complex issues including MIB, fraud, employer’s liability and complex injuries.
Director and Head of the Trials and Litigation Teams, Ghazala Bashey, said;
“I am delighted that two of our teams have been shortlisted for Team of the Year at the Northern Law Awards. It is a fantastic achievement for our staff who work so hard to provide clients with an outstanding service, whilst also making a real impact on the personal injury industry.”
“For the firm as a whole, being shortlisted for Large Law Firm of the Year is also an amazing achievement. Despite many changes to the industry and the challenges we have faced over the last few years Winns continues to strive forward as an excellent firm and a strong contender to win this award as recognition for its success.”
