Not many people get invited to two Christmas work parties in their first week!

It was a full-blown immersion into life at Winns for Lucy Porteous, a physiotherapist at On Medical, who recently passed the 10-year milestone at the company.

Having the opportunity to develop her career, while also having the work-life balance to become a parent, is the major reason Lucy has been with the company for such a long time.

And it certainly is a far cry from her tentative first steps back in December 2012 when the company was spread across two sites and numbered less than 150 staff.

She said: “I remember getting an invite to two work Christmas parties in my first week!

“Winn Group, and On Med, are great companies to work for. Our physiotherapists (although smaller in number now) are amazing and always looking out for each other. There is a great teamwork ethic and support from On Medical peers.

“Having the opportunities to continue to professionally develop and keep up to date with my practice has been really important.  

“Working here also allows a perfect work-life balance and I have had great opportunities to develop as a physio.”

What has Lucy made of the growth of the company over the last 10 years?

She concluded: “Growth is exciting because it brings new opportunities and new lines of work.

“This trend has helped me to apply evidence-based practice whilst dealing with a varied caseload.”
