Join our Summer Internship Programme at Winn Solicitors!

We're on the lookout for ambitious individuals to join Winn Group for an eight-week programme as a Legal Assistant where you will gain hands on experience within a law firm and gain invaluable insights into various areas of law.

There are several departments that are involved in this programme, they include, Personal InjuryOfficial Injury Claims (OIC)Costs and Debt Recovery and Vehicle Damage (Post Litigation).

Alongside your eight-week experience within your selected department, you will also spend a day with our Advocacy Team and Wills, Probate and Trust Department.

Dates of Internship: Between 1st July 2024 and 23rd August 2024.

 As a Legal Assistant, during your summer internship, your duties over the eight-week programme will vary depending on the department. Please select the below departments to find out more about your responsibilities.

Personal Injury

As a Legal Assistant, your duties over the

eight-week programme will include:

  • Chasing clients for documents (including pleadings, witness statements, documentation and disclosure lists)
  • Accurate recording of evidence and or data received from clients and other parties within Proclaim
  • Reviewing client medical records and providing accurate notes on the contents
  • Assisting with the drafting of client witness statements, schedules of loss and court pleadings where appropriate
  • Attending departmental training where appropriate
  • Undertaking research tasks
  • Reviewing case law and Judicial guidelines to provide a proposed valuation of claims
  • Any ad hoc or additional duties as deemed fit and appropriate by the Management Team for this post and the associated level of responsibility attached to it

Official Injury Claims (OIC)

As a Legal Assistant, your duties over the

eight-week programme will include:

  • Chasing insurers and solicitors for payments
  • Reviewing and valuing medical evidence – tariff only and mixed injuries and calculating losses so that the file is in a position to submit to the OIC
  • Chasing Court for notice of issue and hearing dates
  • Chasing GP and hospital records
  • Reviewing and calculating losses in line with the claimant’s medical report.
  • Chasing clients for agreement to medical reports, court documents, witness statements and any losses evidence

Costs and Debt Recovery

As a Legal Assistant, your duties over the

eight-week programme will include:

  • Chasing Insurers and Solicitors for agreed sums
  • Chasing Insurers and Solicitors for response to bills/statements of costs
  • Assisting the team with issuing Part 7 & Part 8 litigation and filing with the Court
  • Chasing the Court for the return of Court documents
  • Preparing bundles for department hearings
  • Undertaking research tasks

Vehicle Damage

(Post Litigation)

As a Legal Assistant, your duties over the

eight-week programme will include:

  • Chasing Clients for documents: pleadings, disclosure lists, witness statements etc
  • Running non-co-op process
  • Chasing judgments from the court
  • Preparing bundles for counsel
  • Chasing insurers and solicitors for payments
  • Undertaking research tasks for fee earners

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
