Winns Gets Behind the Great North Run

Every year in September the North East comes to a standstill as the region's runners take to the streets and all eyes turn to the world’s leading half marathon – The Great North Run.

Local charity the Sunshine Fund will be taking part in this year’s run to raise money to help children with disabilities. As a long-time supporter of the charity Winns are thrilled to be supporting the Sunshine Fund’s team as they run the 13.1 mile course from Newcastle to South Shields.

Clare Savory, Events Manager at Sunshine Fund said;

“We are delighted to have Winns Solicitors sponsoring this year’s Great North Run, running vests. We have 100 runners taking on the challenge for 'Team Sunshine' this year. All the money raised will be supporting children with disabilities in the North East. Without the support of companies like Winns Solicitors, we would be unable to support so many children with their specialised equipment. Good luck to everyone running this year’s Great North Run.”

Two staff members from Winns, Mick Davis and Adam Robinson, will also be running as part of the Sunshine Fund’s 100 strong team.

For Mick, the Great North Run is something he’s been keen to do for some time now and is one of the few local event’s he has yet to participate in. He said;

“I’m quite looking forward to it. I’m a keen runner and I will be looking to put in as good of a time as I possibly can - training has commenced so fingers crossed!”.

Mick will also be taking part in Bike for Bobby on August 2nd. The event, which includes a choice of a 40 mile, 70 mile or a full 125 mile cycling challenge, will take place in Newcastle City Centre and starts from St James' Park. Find out more or get involved here: www.bikeforbobby.com
