From Newcastle University Law degree and LPC at Northumbria, through experience-gaining and a Winns training contract, Adam Thorpe was then promoted to Associate Director – Head of Litigation last year and celebrates a decade with the firm this year.
As we offer huge congratulations to him on 10 years with Winns, we hear about the opportunities and company culture that have kept him at the firm:
I joined Winns in 2012 as it was a growing firm in Newcastle, and I wanted to work in the claimant sector. I stayed as it is a friendly place to work and there have consistently been great opportunities for career development.
The firm put me through my training contract and professional skills course, and I qualified as a Solicitor in 2014. The senior management have always been really supportive and I have been lucky enough to work in the litigation team for almost seven years now, which allows me to be involved in all aspects of the firm in a very varied role.
I was delighted to then be appointed as an Associate Director last year. My team’s role includes running appeals, so having cases reported and in the Court of Appeal has been a definite highlight for us. The firm also lets me represent them on the management committee of MASS, which has been a great opportunity to understand and learn about the claims industry beyond Winns.
