James Scott completes Winn Group apprenticeship and gains new role

Winn Group is delighted to congratulate James Scott on the completion of his apprenticeship and successful next step in his career journey as he becomes a Claims Processor in our First Response Team.

We caught up with him to find out more about his time at Winns so far:

--------------------

What were you studying before starting your apprenticeship?

I started my apprenticeship in the September after I’d left school in Year 11.

Where had you previously worked and in what roles?

Working at Winns was my first job.

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

I felt like it would open as many doors as possible as my first experience in the workplace.

Why did you choose a Winns apprenticeship?

I had heard about the variety of different job roles it could lead me into.

Which parts of the apprenticeship did you particularly enjoy and why?

I enjoyed the variety of jobs I would do with the rest of my team such as delivering stationary, handing letters out and organising the stationary room.

Was anybody particularly helpful or welcoming?

My managers were always available to help me through every aspect of my apprenticeship and ensured I always had the opportunity to do my work.

Tell us about your new role.

The purpose of my new role is to chase the progress of vehicle claims by contacting clients, engineers, and garages as well as actioning engineer reports onto files. This new role is very different from my apprenticeship as I am now on the phone for the majority of the day instead of doing mostly manual jobs.

I am most looking forward to expanding my abilities which will hopefully lead me to progress to further roles within Winns.

How was the transition from the Post Team to FRT and what support did you receive?

I transferred to my new job role the week after I had finished my apprenticeship exams and, from the start, I had all the support I needed to get me up to speed with the new job from the second I started.

What do you most like about working for Winn Group?

I like how every day is different and that I am able to get on with everyone I’ve worked with.

Beer Fridays and staff parties are also a nice bonus!

Which is your favourite Winn Group staff benefit?

Getting three extra days holidays for not having a sick day.

Which Winn Group Core Value do you think is best represented in your team and how?

Reliability, as I can rely on my team to action my tasks on days where I am on annual leave.

James’ new Team Leader, Emma Monaghan, welcomed James to the First Response Team adding;

‘I am thrilled James has completed his apprenticeship. He is hardworking, reliable and a key part of the team. I’m looking forward to seeing James get more confident and continue to build his knowledge.’
