Career Step: Joe an example of Pathways at Winns

'}}

Winn Group takes great pride in the development and evolution of our employees, offering them a range of pathways and that all important next career step.

Joe Thomas is an example of this, after he became a Team Leader in our Vehicle Damage department, after making the step up from Paralegal.

 With the support of senior management and the helpful nature of fellow colleagues, Joe flourished in his role and has now been rewarded with a promotion.

After starting his new role in December, Joe is already leading a team of paralegals and offering his expertise wherever needed as they learn the processes and procedures and gain invaluable skills and experience.

He said: “Winns is what you make of it and what you put into it. If you put in the effort and show willingness then the chances are you will be rewarded.

“But without a doubt, the best part of Winns is the co-workers. We have some real characters in Vehicle Damage who have had me splitting at the sides from laughter. They create such a positive atmosphere - they truly are wonderful.

“At my two previous firms, nobody would give me the time of day. Very rarely did I get an opportunity to ask questions and the answers that I got were brusque and/or misinformed.

“Coming to Winns was definitely a culture shock – but in the best possible way. Help and assistance are bountiful; and the Training Manager, Emma Green, is exceptionally kind and approachable.

“In my new role, I’m most looking forward to fostering the next generation of Solicitors. I hope to embody them not just with the knowledge, but with the mindset – a desire for constant curiosity and a compulsive need to ask the questions: “Why are we doing this?” “Is this the right thing to do?” “Is there a better way we can do this?”

“There is nothing more rewarding for me than teaching someone and encouraging them in the right direction and seeing them make it on their own.”

Rebecca Colby, Deputy Head of Vehicle Damage, said: “Joe has been a committed and conscientious fee earner. When Joe joined the Vehicle Damage team, he quickly moved from dealing with lower-value claims to the more demanding and complex high-value work.

“He had great success in this role and the natural step was to progress to lead a team and to pass on his skills and ability.

“We look forward to seeing what Joe can achieve as a Team Leader!”
