Winn Group’s Continued Contribution to Net Zero Goals

Following a carbon footprint assessment, Winn Group is pleased to have offset 1,071 tonnes of carbon dioxide last year.

As part of our continued focus on reducing and offsetting our carbon footprint - incorporated in our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programme - Winns supports the delivery of projects that aim to combat emissions as we do our bit as a responsible organisation.

What project did we support?

The Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary, located in eastern Cambodia, covers 166,983 hectares of forest. Through this project, Winns has helped reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation by protecting the forest from threats such as agricultural expansion and illegal logging.

An area of significant global importance for biodiversity, hosting 84 globally threatened species, including 13 critically endangered and 26 endangered species, the project promotes sustainable agriculture and the development of non-timber forest product enterprises and alternative income sources for the communities there, such as ecotourism.

Why do we offset?

We asked the head of our Climate Action and Sustainable Business board about what this means for the company and what motivates us to do it.

Janet McCrindle, Group Executive Assistant to CEO and Head of Office Management, said: “Climate action is something I'm personally passionate about, so it's encouraging to see the positive impact Winn Group can make through initiatives like this.

“Supporting projects that protect forests and wildlife, while helping local communities, is a practical way for us to contribute to global net zero goals.

“It's important that we continue to look for ways to make a difference and play our part in creating a more sustainable future."
