Congratulations for Winns’ Newly Qualified Solicitors

Having joined Winns five years ago as Legal Clerks, Roshni Miah and Andrew Campbell are worthy of massive congratulations as they successfully become qualified solicitors.

Roshni, who joined Winns from Northumbria University, is a Solicitor in Part 7, now known as the Personal Injury department, and deals with MIB cases, foreign driver claims, disputed cases and those where the other side raises the argument of the accident being of a low-velocity impact. Looking back over her training contract, she says;

“I enjoyed my training contract. It was challenging at times but well worth the end result! I particularly enjoyed my time with the Complex department.

“On a personal level, I would say my confidence has grown, particularly in terms of advocacy.

“I would say qualifying as a solicitor has been one of my biggest achievements so far which I am very proud of!”

Andrew, who started at Winns from Sunderland University, is a Solicitor within the Vehicle Damage team which predominantly recovers hire, repairs, and recovery and storage charges on behalf of Winns clients, as well as completing other duties such as balances and closing files. He reflected on the training contract, saying;

“The training contract was great as it was good to be exposed to various areas of the business which enabled me to expand and develop my knowledge and experience.

“It is a relief to complete that journey and start on a new journey.”

Looking to the future, Roshni can also see the benefits of being with a company with a variety of different business areas. She added;

I enjoy PI work and especially the variation within my team as no two days are the same, however, I would love to get an insight into the newer departments at Winns, such as Wills, Probate and Trusts.”

Andrew’s future plans include a step-by-step vision for self-development and achievement inside and outside the field of law. He added;

“In the short term, I would like to continue to progress and develop as a Solicitor, and long term to progress as far as possible to be a manager or partner.

“I am also considering getting involved with politics! My Great Grandad was the Mayor of Jarrow and also served as the Labour MP for Whitehaven for 11 years.”

Summing up their time at Winn Group so far, Roshni appreciates the adaptable group strategy which enables the company to continue to grow, in turn providing options for staff. She said;

“Winns is always ahead of any changes which is really reassuring as an employee and there are always plenty of opportunities to progress your career.”

Andrew emphasized the beneficial culture of knowledge-transfer and experience-sharing at Winn Group saying;

I know this is a bit of a cliché, but I think most people in here would agree with me when I say you learn something new every day!”

David Dewar, Associate Director - Head of Commercial & Contested Litigation, joined everyone at Winn Group in congratulating Roshni on her success adding;

“I have had the pleasure of seeing Roshni develop over the last two and bit years from a dedicated hard-working trainee into a well-rounded lawyer and I am delighted she will be continuing within the PI Department as a newly qualified solicitor. I look forward to working with her for many years to come.”

Chris Cullingworth, Associate Director – Head of Vehicle Damage congratulated Andrew both for qualifying and for his great start with the Vehicle Damage team saying;

“Andrew has only been in the Vehicle Damage team a short time, but you can already see that he is developing into a reliable and hardworking member of the team.

“Since qualifying, I have noticed that Andrew has been more confident in arguing the contentious claims and is now starting to build up a caseload of Fast Track claims. Andrew has a bright future ahead of him at Winn Solicitors and I expect to see him go from strength to strength.”
